AFTERCARE

  • Please note that excess ink and plasma may accumulate under the bandage after a few hours. This is completely normal and expected.

  • Remove the bandage wrap after 3-4 hours, or wait until you are home / in a clean place to wash the tattoo (do not leave the bandage on overnight)

  • DO NOT re-bandage your new tattoo.

  • Gently wash your tattoo with warm water and antibacterial soap.

  • DO NOT exfoliate your new tattoo.

  • After washing, pat dry with a clean towel.

  • Apply a thin layer of Bepanthen, coconut oil, kawakawa balm, healing balm or similar after allowing your fresh tattoo to air dry for 15min. DO NOT use pawpaw cream, as this is too thick and often blocks pores and interrupts smooth healing. You may also choose to dry heal (not apply balm) for the first 2-5 days of healing - please feel free to discuss with Rosa what might suit your skin and tattoo best.

  • Wash, dry, and apply balm 2-3 times daily or as needed.

  • Wear clean, soft fabrics for the first two weeks, nothing irritating or abrasive.

  • Itching, oozing, and peeling are all normal reactions to a healing tattoo, but please get in touch with Rosa if you have any concerns.

  • Your tattoo should take around 2-4 weeks to heal completely, sometimes longer for blackwork.

  • Moisturise for the rest of your life!

THINGS TO AVOID

  • Do not touch or let anybody touch your fresh tattoo

  • Do not pick, scratch or peel your tattoo

  • Do not soak your tattoo for 2-3 weeks. No swimming, spas or saunas. Showering is fine.

  • No sun exposure should be allowed for 2-3 weeks. After that, it is recommended that you apply sunblock to your tattoos to prevent fading.

  • No excess sweating or exposure to gym equipment for at least the first five days. Therefore, only light exercising.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR TRUST.
